There are many Ayurvedic rituals to take care of the health and beauty of your face. After opening your pores with a steam bath and deeply cleansing your skin with a scrub, you apply a face mask.
The mask nourishes, hydrates, and protects the skin. It also gives it a beautiful complexion.
The mask's ingredients are chosen based on the person's skin dosha. There is an Ayurvedic adage that says that everything you put on your skin should be suitable for your mouth, meaning that whatever your skin receives should be suitable for your mouth. Therefore, it's important to use good-quality products.
When you have Vata skin, thin and dries out easily, you need to moisturize it. Here's an example of a mask for Vata skin : 1 tsp honey + 1 tsp milk + 1 tsp almond or rose powder.
For Pitta skin, which tends to become inflamed, you need to soothe it. Here's an example of a mask for Pitta skin : 1 tsp honey + 1 tsp milk + 1 tsp coriander powder.
For Kapha skin, which tends to be oily, we can apply the following mask : 1 tsp honey + 1 tsp milk + 1 tsp chickpea flour.
Apply the mask with your fingertips, using circular motions to massage the skin and allow the ingredients to penetrate the epidermis. Let the mask sit for about fifteen minutes before rinsing with water. Use once a week.
