There are many Ayurvedic rituals to care for the health and beauty of your face. Shiro Svedana is the first step to cleanse and purify the skin, it precedes the facial scrub and mask.
What is Shiro Svedana ?
Shiro means head, Svedana means steam bath. It is a facial steam bath.
To perform this steam bath, water is boiled in a saucepan to which you can add plants, flowers, spices, or essential oils chosen according to your dominant dosha.
Placed the water in a bowl or salad bowl. Place your face over the bowl, keeping your eyes closed and covering your head with a towel to retain the steam. The steam bath can be performed for 3 to 5 minutes.

Steam bath for Vata skin
Characteristics of Vata skin
Vata skin is thin and cool. It is sensitive to cold. It dries out and wrinkles easily.
Special steam bath for the Vata dosha
Choose one or more of the following ingredients : fennel seeds, cardamom, cinnamon sticks.
Optional : add 1 to 2 drops of essential oil, rosewood, rose geranium, ylang ylang
Steam bath for Pitta skin
Characteristics of Pitta skin
Pitta skin is moderately thin and warm. It is sensitive to the sun. It is prone to inflammation, pimples, and redness.
Special Steam Bath for Pitta Dosha
Choose one or more of the following ingredients : coriander seeds, rose petals, mint.
Option : add 1 to 2 drops of essential oil, real lavender, sandalwood, patchouli
Steam Bath for Kapha skin
Characteristics of Kapha Skin
Kapha skin is thick and cool to the touch. It is well moisturized and tends to be oily. It is prone to pimples, especially blackheads.
Special Steam Bath for Kapha Dosha
Choose one or more of the following ingredients : cloves, thyme, chamomile.
Option: add 1 to 2 drops of essential oil, bay leaf, juniper, rosemary
