Specification
Kaka means crow and Asana posture. It's the crow pose. This balancing pose reduces the three doshas. From a physical perspective, it stretches the back and strengthens the arms, abdominals and wrist joints. Crow pose also helps us achieve better balance. From a mental perspective, Kakasana improves concentration and coordination.
Performing the pose step by step
Start in the forward bend pose. Bend your knees and put your hands on the floor. Make sure all parts of your hands are in contact with the mat. Bend your elbows back and look toward the front of the mat. Then put your knees above your elbows and lift one foot, then the other. Toes pointed.
The secret to successfully achieving this pose is the direction of your gaze. If you look at your feet, you will never achieve balance. On the contrary, you must look far ahead to achieve balance.
Alternatives
I want to make the pose more accessible
I practice half crow pose by first lifting one foot and then doing the same on the other side.
I can place my feet on blocks.
I want to intensify the pose
To go deeper into Kakasana, I can do Bakasana, the crane pose. The two poses are often confused. Bakasana is often used to refer to crow pose, while Baka means crane. Crane pose is practiced with arms straight and knees positioned at armpit level.
Watch out for
It's not recommended to practice crow pose if you have wrist injuries or weakness. In cases of dizziness, back problems, or eye problems, this pose is also contraindicated.
Always consult and ask the advice of your doctor if you have any health problems. In all cases, it is strongly recommended that you seek the guidance of a qualified yoga practitioner to adapt the poses to your situation.
Practice crow pose to work on your balance, strengthen your arm, and stretch your back!
